After years of speculation, one of metal’s most iconic festivals is officially making a comeback. Ozzfest will return in 2027, with three dates confirmed across the UK, USA and Mexico, bringing a welcome dose of heavy metal chaos back to the festival calendar.
The UK leg will take place on Saturday 10 July 2027 at the National Bowl in Milton Keynes, with US and Mexican dates following in September. The American show will return to Glen Helen Amphitheater in San Bernardino, while Mexico City will host its first ever Ozzfest.
For anyone who grew up with Ozzfest, this is pretty big news. Personally, the last time I found myself at an Ozzfest was back in 2001. That’s a hell of a long time between visits, and plenty has changed in the metal world since then. But the prospect of seeing that legendary festival name back on a UK stage is something to get genuinely excited about.
Originally founded by Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne in 1996, Ozzfest became a major force in heavy music, bringing established metal heavyweights together with emerging bands who would go on to become household names. It helped introduce the likes of Slipknot, System of a Down and Lamb of God to much wider audiences.
The 2027 revival carries extra significance, marking the festival’s return following Ozzy’s passing in 2025. Sharon Osbourne will curate the line-up, continuing the legacy of a festival that was always about more than just the headliners.
Speaking about the comeback, Sharon said: “Ozzy was the first to launch his own traveling metal festival, and Ozzfest will always remain an important part of Ozzy’s legacy.”
The full line-up is still under wraps, although Sharon has revealed that around half of the performers are already confirmed.
Thirty years after the first Ozzfest, the circus is coming back to town. Now, let’s just hope the line-up does the legacy justice.
